Finesh -- I celebrate your courage to share your thoughts about your weight challenge. Don't get it twisted, all of us have something that we can strengthen and make better. There are a lot of different ways to address weight loss; I would recommend that you start where you are. For instance, if you are not eating fresh fruit, decide to incorporate a piece of fruit a day. If you drive, park your car further than normal to walk to your destination. Start soft and work your way towards a more healthier lifestyle...remember, weight loss is a lifestyle.

I celebrate your success.

I completely agree with Sermaine Davis, weight DEFINTELY matters!!!

I am also a plus sized voluptuous beauty, however, I haven't always been. I have noticed a difference with this tremendous weight gain. While it is true that people perceive us as lazy, slothful, or negligent...people often receive the vibe that we throw off. I must admit, my confidence has taken a huge DIVE, and I don't have the UMPH I used to. I am NOT happy with my weight, and while Im not a lazy woman, this weight is heavy and it makes me tired and sluggish even if I want to push sometimes it is difficult. When you are big your posture is different, clothes don't wear well, and shopping options become limited, and more expensive-ESPECIALLY if you're naturally stylish/sexy.
I always hear other plus sized women talk about being big and beautiful- and I am MOST DEFINITELY that!
I was fearfully and wonderfully made, hand crafted and created by the father, and ALLL my stuff is good. HOWEVER, God did NOT make me fat! I did that! I didn't steward the temple He gave me properly, and it affects EVERY area of my life.
Now, I am MORE than ready to uncover all of this sexy in a healthy but FAST way...GOT ANY TIPS!?

Angela, where can I find a compression suit?

I can appreciate the comments below regarding health and health issues surrounding obesity, however, the question was are overweight women less SUCCESSFUL.. And does weight make a difference in their success? My comment to that is YES. It does make a difference. Fat women (and I am one of them, so I can say the word fat), are perceived as being lazy and unmotivated. In the work world we are perceived as the person to come to for a shoulder to cry on or better yet -- that person who can make you laugh. But you are the last to be picked for that big project that can lead to a promotion. You think being black makes you have to work twice as hard as other races... Try being black, female & FAT. Triple the amount of work you have to do to prove yourself. In business, on the telephone everything is fantastic, but when you step in that boardroom to make your presentation, you definitely feel the difference in the air. You'd better be on top of your game when you get in there, and have your dog and pony show flawless. Because people have a preconceived notion as SOON as they see you. So... Yes... for health reasons we should all (including me) take a more proactive role in our health. But... also professionally weight will hinder you, it can be done... but it's a lot harder to get that door to open for us... And a lot of times, it's easier to just give up. I hope this helps someone today.

Hello Ladies...

I would have to say besides the health issues which should be the top priority, how you look sometimes determines how you feel. When you arent happy with your weight, you dont love yourself, youre ususally uncomfortable with yourself and all these contribute to low self esteem. All of my life I have been heavy. Always in double digits. Always had a stomach, love handles and you dont want to buy clothes so you wear the same thing year after year. Well this year, things are different...I have lost 8 lbs in 2 weeks. I didn't exercise, I didn't watch what I was eating, I didn't have surgery and I didn't take any pills. I simply put on a compression suit which I instantly lost 3 sizes, and while wearing it I have lost 8 lbs. I was in a 36 now Im in a 34. I can tell that I am a happier person. For the first time ever, in my 44 years of life, I can buy cute summer clothes. Walk around in short and cute tops, buy cute sun dresses. Come on, we all know when u are heavy the clothes aren't that cute. We all oww it to ourselves to look and feel great about ourselves. I am so thankful to my mother for introduces me to this product. It not only is going to change my personal outlook, it is changing my entire financial status. I am going for the top...God Bless you. I love you.

In His Love & Mine,

Angela

Actually, what really matters is consistently experiencing good health. I say this because an individual can be slim but not healthy. So, yes, weight does matter, managing body weight conducive to one's height and body build. It matters that we are aware of family history and predisposed health issues. And, what I believe to be very important, it is critical to develop a community -- such as this forum -- of like-minded individuals who will keep each other accountable to a committed healthy lifestyle!

I am definitely on board!

Yes I think weight really matters especially for health reason .When you are not a healthy weight you set yourself up for health problems diebetes, high blood pressure stroke ,heart attck, kidney failure and so fourth ,I know hands on because for many years I was obesit weighing 267 lbs and I had 3 three strokes and was brder line diabetic but I got tired of living an unhealthy life so I created a plan for me without surgery or diet pills and I LOST 142 POUNDS .feeling better than ever and I want to share it with whom ever want to live healthier and you can read it in my new book that can be order on my web site www.aliciaash.com and on there you can see my transformation.

Monica Johnson,

I added you as a friend, because I need to ask you some questions on how did you loose that excellent amount of weight.
I was on disability for 6 weeks. I've been back to work now for 2 weeks and my weight is slow and sluggish. I've been pushing myself to walk and eat right again. I'm about to punk out and get the lapband. (smile)
