BLACK WOMEN - 2 JOBS ARE TOO MANY

Extra income. Making ends meet. These are a couple of the reasons that many women take second jobs. Or should I say the job takes us?

Bringing in extra income is a major concern for many people, but as I stressed in my previous blog, “Black Women Are Not Broke!”, there is a right way and a wrong way to go about bringing in money.

Most of us could probably quit a second job if we knew how to negotiate salary on the first one. Salary negotiation is an art. It does require courage, especially if… Continue

BLACK WOMEN ARE NOT BROKE-WE INVEST IN HAIR!

Black women are not broke. And how can we be? After all we are fully invested in the hair industry as the film “Good Hair” proved. Many of us faithfully contribute to the weekly Lottery, “just in case”, though I couldn’t tell the last time I saw a Black female lotto winner. The rest of us prefer to invest in commodities like pork, chicken, ham-anything we can fit in our mouths.

I’m being flippant and I know it. But it seems like we put our money into everything except things that actually gain… Continue

ARE WOMEN TOO WISHY WASHY?

Last night’s women’s team on Celebrity Apprentice did more than disappoint. Called to the boardroom, they hemmed and hawed, diverted their eyes coquettishly, and pretended to “be nice” and not point out the weak link on their team. These were celebrity women- all with impressive accomplishments. But yet, none directly pointed out the problem person and instead turned a fairly straightforward decision into the most protracted firing I have ever seen.

Why was it so difficult for the women to simp… Continue

Tiger By The Tail

So it ends. In a room more somber than Michael Jackson’s funeral and against the backdrop of a gaudy blue curtain, reminiscent of a Broadway stage, Woods concludes his story of entitlement and adultery-the earmarks of every great scandal.

Tiger’s demeanor was as gracious and non-assuming as ever. His voice was stronger and louder than I’ve ever heard it-I wasn’t even sure if Tiger Woods could raise his voice until now. He openly and unequivocally condemned the press for their treatment of his w… Continue

Thanks Ms. Colette;

It's funny how God has pulled this gifting out of me. I never wrote before. But I believe by me being much encouraged with my life in Christ, God is able to use this for His glory.
